Whether a casual get together at a friend's house or a black tie affair at the Ritz, your makeup should embody the seasonal trends, catered specifically for your face. Every holiday season there is one makeup item that cannot be overlooked. The perfect red lipstick. For those who are intimidated by red, find solace in a more neutral lip liner and earth toned red. From Aveda, try Sheer Saffron paired with Morena or Maple lip liner. For those who are more adventurous, or want to bring out that bombshell, Poppy paired with Tarragonna liner is a stunning combination. If you opt for dramatic red lips I would suggest a simple eye look. Neutral shadows with a wet shadow liner will create a polished look that is not overpowering.
If red lipstick just isn't your thing, the holidays are a great opportunity to showcase smokey, dramatic eyes. Try applying a dark shade to your lid, with slightly thicker liner. Use neutral light shadows and blend towards the brow bone. If you would like to wear fake lashes I recommend holding them up to yours and cutting them horizontally so that they do not exceed the length of your lid. This will cause them to buckle and possibly fall enough by the end of your evening. Apply one coat of mascara first. Apply the glue to the spine of the lashes and let dry for 15 seconds before placing at the base of your lashes. After they dry, touch up your liner and mascara.
